Well...
after all... you came for Stuff. So we should probably find you some.
We tend to have an unpredictable time of it with Actual Writing and

THE
MONKEYVISION SONG CONTEST 2009
On
28th March 2009, Monkey Kettle Events hosted a mammoth
19-band contest at The Pitz, an alternative to certain other multi-act
contests designed to celebrate the diversity and excllence of bands and
music in Milton Keynes. This is the site we made to accompany that,
with plenty of info and (hopefully up to date!) links to the bands'
MySpaces etc.
MATTHEW'S SPONSORED THINK - 2004
He
may never run a marathon in his life, but in 2004, Matthew did the next
best thing. He spent a whole 24 hours thinking. No, I can't really
remember why either. And it turned out to be one of the most pointless
things ever done in the name of Monkey Kettle. The Moral Of The Story: Thinking Is Overrated. Though he did raise some
money for Charity, and it still makes a good story. This is what
happened...

| MATTHEW & DIANE'S LONG WALKS |
Not
that they have emotional problems or anything, but Monkey Kettle
Staffers Matthew & Diane both like to go on walks that are far too
long. And often when they do, Matthew puts some of the details on his
Blog (see above) and people kind of dig them. Here's the collected
works if you are one of those diggers...
1. MATTHEW WALKS ACROSS MILTON KEYNES. (Jan 08) Okay, so that's not THAT long a walk, but he was doing it for charity. Kind of. And anyway, how long do you reckon it takes to walk across the Mirror City anyway? Part One / Part Two / Part Three / Part Four
2. MATTHEW & DIANE WALK TO BEDFORD. (Oct
08) And then when Diane came back from New Zealand and the British
Rambling Army kicked off once more it was No Limits. Hardcore
ramblitude. And on a Monday in October they accidentally walked to
Bedford. This account contains maps and photos and borderline dementia
and everything. Part One / Part Two / Part Three / Part Four
3. MATTHEW & DIANE WALK TO AYLESBURY. (May 09). This was a Long Walk with a more definite goal - but no less difficult / and or / fun. Only in one part though sadly, cos my Dictaphone died halfway through. Yeeha!
4. MATTHEW & DIANE WALK TO NORTHAMPTON.
(Sep 09). The obvious Third Part of the "towns around MK" triptych,
this one's split over two parts and is also a tale of urban
encroachment onto what were probably some pretty dull fields anyway. Part One / Part Two.

| THE HISTORY OF MONKEY KETTLE |
When
Monkey Kettle Industries turned 10 in 2009 AD, I took a couple of weeks
to muse endlessly on the history of our fair Arts Collective and Poetry
Mag up to that date. Entries include:

SIMON'S 2003 MK ELECTION SPECIAL
In
those pre-Blog days our best adventures came in the form of Articles on
the Website. Here's my favourite piece of Simon In Gonzo Action.
SIMON STARES LONG AND HARD AT TONY'S KRAPP
He's
done it about a million times, I think - but this is Simon's review of
our first experience of Tony's landmark performance of Beckett's Krapp's Last Tape, from November 2002. Hopefully it'll be around yet again before too long and you can see it for yerself!
MMT AT ZAK'S FOR FREEride etc
They won our Monkey Kettle Award for Best MK Band 2002 - though from this review it seems like it was only Diane that dug 'em.
JIM'S REVIEW OF 75% LIP AT THE PITZ
It
may be from 2000 AD, and 75% Lip (and probably any of their subsequent
bands!) long since gone, but they were so rad I think I'll keep this
review alive for ever. Some bands are just that cool. |
